Caught on Film
To capture the spirit of the game for future generations we’re asking everyone to dig deep and find – or film – their own cricket movies as part of our ‘Caught on Film’ appeal.
Whether it’s the old 16 or 8mm film reels taken years ago and still sat on a shelf in the basement or attic, family film of matches on the beach or in the street, the local cricket club, lazy weekends watching matches on the village green, the big occasions at Scarborough or Headingley – or new footage captured during the Cricket Mela – it’s all part of our cricketing history.
We’ll be showing material on the big screen at Headingley during the Pakistan v Australia Test Match, so if you have any films, please do let us know – we have archivists who can advise on care of the films, as well as transferring them onto new formats. You can also upload your films to the Cricket Mela Facebook site.
Yorkshire Film Archive is delighted to be working in partnership with Screen Yorkshire on our ‘Caught on Film’ appeal.
