This Christmas spoof film was made by amateur Middlesbrough filmmaker Tom H. Brown and won a special commendation in an Amateur Cine World film competition. The Middlesbrough streets and the filmmaker’s first home, 'Melrose,' provided the film sets. The principal actors were Tom Brown himself, his wife Kate and daughter Helen, with his parents Tom and Mabel as two drunken guests. Tom Brown Senior performed the role of photographer when Kate and Tom appeared together in the film. This home movie provides an authentic record of the English domestic interior of the 1930s with glimpses of art deco style wallpaper.

A brief record of Middlesbrough Mayor’s Sunday Procession in 1935 and a long sequence of an all-in wrestling match are included. The film also features a staged comic scene of a tooth extraction with his dentist father, Tom Brown Senior, and dental surgery staff, and the short drama 'A Picnic On The Green Sward,' made for 15 shillings in 1929 with friends from Tees-Side Cine Club. His future wife Kate plays Rita Carbo.This amateur melodrama is a send-up of British film acting in the 1920s with a lover’s quarrel, gun-toting villain, and happy ending.

The film spans the 1930s to the 1950s and features family life in Middlesbrough, trips to Berwick-upon-Tweed, the Tees Valley, Durham, Llandudno in Wales, Holland and Switzerland. Footage in Durham shows Helen rowing on the River Wear as a member of a university women’s boat crew.

The compilation also includes black and white footage of the Brown family and friends attending the christening of Tony in 1940, and of Tony as a baby in 1941.

It records Tom H Brown's wedding to Kate Elizabeth Spittle on 12 August 1931 at St Barnabas' Church, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, where they were married by Reverend J. W. Dales. Tom and Kate Brown also record their honeymoon in the South East of England. The film concludes with shots of waterfalls and rivers in Wensleydale and Ilkley, and with two sequences of air flight that feature the take off of an autogyro and the departure of Captain Barnard and his famous Fokker monoplane 'The Spider'.

Covering the years 1930-1933, the film records a family tour of the Scottish Borders from Berwick-Upon-Tweed to Edinburgh, Melrose and Gretna Green. Includes footage of the salmon fishing industry in Berwick Upon Tweed and of the arrival of HRH Prince of Wales for the official opening of Constantine College, Middlesbrough, on 2 July 1930. The racing personality, Sir Henry Segrave, and his boat the 'Miss England II' feature in scenes from the Lake District. This material was probably filmed shortly before Segrave set the water speed record at Windermere on 13 June 1930.

Members of the Tees-Side Cine Club are pictured in costume at the rehearsals of the production of 'The Adventure of the Kiltoun Cup' in 1931. Also included at the end of the compilation are short sequences of the 1933 Mayor’s Sunday procession in Middlesbrough and the opening of the Tees (Newport) Bridge by the Duke and Duchess of York in 1934.

The group open presents around the Christmas tree, have dinner, and play Scrabble before falling asleep. Some parts of the film were re-staged the following July as certain family members were not available at the time. Betty Cook was the President of the Cleveland Cine Society and the North East Cine Society.

Brenton Porteous that captures winter scenes in Newcastle and surrounding countryside; biplanes and monoplanes at Woolsington airfield; Beadnell bay and harbour; High Force waterfall on the River Tees, and the building of an air raid shelter at Osborne Road, Jesmond, Newcastle, the home of Dr Porteous, and now the site of Whites Hotel. Also included are shots at the wedding of Dr H. B. Porteous (the filmmaker) and Dr Winifred Ormerod in 1926, with good examples of 1920s bridal wear.

Leonard and Jean Winter were members of the Cleveland Cine Club. The film was probably shot at their home in Lancaster Road, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough. This film is part of the Newcastle & District Amateur Cinematographers Association (ACA) collection.

An amateur film recording a wedding taking place in Redcar on 7th February 1955 begins with the bride and her father posing for a photographer outside the church. Following the service, a small crowd watches the happy couple as they pose for official photographs along with their friends and family. At the reception views of the cake as well as the groom making a speech. The film end with the couple leaving the reception venue and arriving at their new home together.
This home movie made by the Neesham family of Redcar predominantly featuring the young family playing with their children, alongside family and friends, in the gardens of a number of houses. The film also features the family taking a walk through a new housing estate and participating in a schools sports day. The film also features a wedding that not only features the couple posing with the families for photographs, but also the reception taking place inside a hall. The final part of the film shows the family visiting Flamingo Land in North Yorkshire and views of the many animals there.
