This is the second of two reels of film taken by Peter Thornton of Farsley, Leeds, most likely while stationed in Egypt towards the end of the Second World War. It features scenes of locals in a more rural area going about their everyday life.
Michael Gough presents a history of the Newcastle & District Amateur Cinematographers Association (ACA) as the cine club celebrates its 50th anniversary, illustrated with documentary footage and extracts from their numerous productions, from the foundation of the club in 1927 to 1977.
This amateur compilation filmed by J.E. Baker documents a trip around York, including some famous landmarks and a look at the affects of flooding. Includes footage of a royal visit by the recently crowned George VI and Queen Elizabeth, probably in York. There is also a trip to Scotland to visit the famous Empire Exhibition in Glasgow held at Bellahouston Park from May to December 1938. . A final sequence records the building of an air raid shelter.
