The film documents Sunderland’s successful industries, such as engineering, shipbuilding, Pyrex glass manufacturing, and tailoring, and promotes Sunderland Corporation’s redesign of residential, educational and business centres. Footage includes excellent shots of Sunderland’s famous glass blowers, scenes from the launch of the 'Montrose,' slum clearance, and construction of the Derwent Reservoir.
