Made by Dennis Leather, a member of Vixen Films and the Stocksbridge Cine Club, this is the first of three films featuring a collection of events in Stocksbridge and the local area, with several openings, including the opening of Stocksbridge College in Hole House Lane by the then Prime Minister Harold Wilson in 1966.
This is a film commissioned by Rotherham Corporation to explain and promote the work of Rotherham Town Council. The commentary provides an outline of council work with the film providing illustrations from many of its departments: education, health, home help, housing, refuse collection, entertainment and so on.
This is a film from a collection of home movies made by Jack Johnson of Pontefract. It shows the family visiting various places in East Yorkshire and includes a miners’ parade held in Pontefract. The film is accompanied by a partial commentary.
