A promotional film made by Turners Film and Video Production for Portsmouth and Sunderland Newspapers Limited that shows how and why the Sunderland Echo newspaper is important to the local communities in and around Sunderland. The film also shows the production of an edition from the writing of a story to the printing and distribution of the finished product. The film shows how the paper uses the latest computer technologies and how it is printed using the offset lithographic printing process.
Made by George Cummin, this is a compilation of miscellaneous amateur and commercial footage, which includes an outing to Warkworth, Northumberland, with the Newcastle & District Amateur Cinematographers Association (ACA), of which he was a member, and holiday footage of Devon featuring his wife, Norah Cummin, and friends. Footage of professional and women’s cricket matches are also included. The professional games featured may document the West Indian cricket team’s tour matches in England in 1950.

Footage includes a civic event in Newcastle upon Tyne, possibly an annual Mayor’s Sunday; an international rugby match between England and Scotland at Twickenham Stadium, London; an Air Show at Cramlington Aerodrome, home of the Newcastle Aero Club, with shots of famous women aviators, Amy Johnson and Constance Ruth Leathart, who later flew with the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) during World War Two; and general views of Scarborough including the Grand Hotel.
