Huddersfield-born artist/curator Dave Charlesworth starts his residency at YFA, exploring issues of Yorkshire identity and landscape.  
 
Dave has secured Arts Council England funds to support the research, development and production of a new series of moving image works, incorporating a residency at the YFA, a number of workshops and work-in-progress public events in the Yorkshire region.

Over the years, YFA footage has been screened in many unusual ways or contexts, and Saturday 27th October saw another first!  ‘Bradford Town Hall Square’ – a film that dates back to the very early days of filmmaking in the 19th Century – was shown on the UK’s largest inflatable screen, at the location in which it was made.

The merger of the North East Film Archive with the Yorkshire Film Archive marks an exciting new chapter in safeguarding our regional film collections and creating new opportunities for people to see and enjoy over one hundred years of moving image heritage from Yorkshire and the North East of England.  Read more

Congratulations to the North East Film Archive on their new exhibition at Teesside University. Exhibits include stills and moving image from YFA and NEFA collections, reflecting the people, places and landscapes of both regions, and there's much to celebrate as we cement the new partnership of both archives.
