  • The Wolds Wagoners

    In the 1980s, Willerby Film Club made an 8mm film capturing the memories of three Wagoners from the East Riding of Yorkshire, who all recall signing up, mobilisation, and their experiences of the Mons Retreat during WW1.  Thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, YFA were able to undertake vital restoration work on the only surviving copy, a poor-quality VHS tape, and the story of the Wagoners can be told once again.

  • Born a Rebel blog: Part 1

    For her latest series of blogs, our fabulous volunteer, Val, has taken inspiration from a newly-commissioned short film, Born a Rebel: a collaboration between Cinema for All, Yorkshire, North East and North West Film Archives (find out more about the film here).  Here’s part one - parts two and three will follow over the next few weeks.

  • Vote 100: Born a Rebel

    Both YFA and NEFA are very excited to be working in partnership with Cinema For All and North West Film Archive, as part of the Vote 100: Born a Rebel campaign, and to share the official trailer for our newly-commissioned short film of the same name.

    Featuring wonderful footage from the Yorkshire, North East and North West Film Archives, the film was made in response to the lack of women's voices in archives.

  • Tyneside On Film - January 2019

    Wednesday 10th October was the 90th birthday of Tyneside’s beloved north east icon the Tyne Bridge, and it also happened to be the first day we visited Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema to showcase our brand new Tyneside On Film programme. 
    If you missed out on getting a ticket first time around, we’re heading back to the Tyneside once again.  You can see Tyneside On Film on Wednesday 23rd January 2019, at 3.00pm and 6.10pm.
