    NEFA is excited to announce the launch of its new Search & Rescue campaign.  We’re asking everyone who lives in, works in or loves the North East to help us re-discover those forgotten film and videotape collections that have recorded life in the region over the past one hundred and twenty years.

    In May 2018 we launched CINESECRETS, an initiative where we team up with the region’s media to present 60-second clips from the North East Film Archive showing the people, industries, special events and pastimes of times gone by.

  • A New Life in Huddersfield

    A new documentary ‘A New Life in Huddersfield – Memories of Partition and Migration’ reveals untold stories from Partition survivors on how they escaped the violence, fled their homelands and eventually settled into new lives in Huddersfield.  On Tuesday 22nd May, the documentary premiered to over 80 special guests at the Heritage Quay in Huddersfield.

    BRRRRRRRRRR ... it’s February and -3 outside, but the winter sun is doing its best to keep our Vitamin D at decent levels, so be brave and have a quick walk. Afterwards you can grab a cup of tea before watching a most delightful film called Skating and Snow (1936-1953).  

    Made by a Sheffield-based amateur filmmaker, K.G. Tofield, Skating and Snow is a collection of four films which capture the beautiful winter scenery and the seemingly exceptional talented skaters in the Sheffield area.
