Welcome to Memory Bank

Memory Bank is an award-winning series of innovative DVD resource packs, developed by the Yorkshire Film Archive in conjunction with healthcare professionals, older people, carers and families, to provide a complete resource pack for use in reminiscence and life story work.

Archive film footage of familiar scenes and themes has been carefully selected to help rediscover past times with friends, family, and those you care for.  What better to prompt and share memories together – whether it’s schooldays, holidays, working life, or fun at the fairground, we all have stories to tell!

Memory Bank: Life on the Home Front

In addition to producing our series of Memory Bank titles, we also team up with other organisations to develop special edition packs.  Our latest project saw us working with Age UK Support Services (Yorkshire and Humber) to produce a brand new reminiscence resource, Memory Bank: Life on the Home Front, based on local archive film footage of life in the 1940s and ‘50s.

The films include the rise of the Home Guard, the jobs that women took on to support the war effort, the impact on children, VE Day celebrations, and the return to peace in our times.
