Description

A short 'quiz'  film by amateur filmmaker Tom H. Brown that invites the audience to guess a number of landmarks in his hometown of Middlesbrough. The film may have been presented at screenings for the Tees-side Cine Club.

In the first section, eleven partial views of local architecture and streets are introduced by intertitles that ask, 'Where was that?' In the second section of the film, the camera reveals more of the building or scene and intertitles identify them as follows: St. Barnabas Road; All Saints Vicarage; the Royal Exchange; St Philomena’s; Middlesbrough High School; Town Hall; Cargo Fleet Road; Dock Clock Tower; the Transporter Bridge; railway crossing; Salvation Army Citadel in Brougham Street.

A painted advertisement covers the street end wall of a row of buildings across the track, with brand names "Swan Vesta," "Oxo" and "Clayton Bonesetters," a Felling company dealing in patent  medicines. A man in a flat cap and smoking a pipe walks towards the camera, pauses and looks towards the crossing as the train passes.
