Part of the Hattersley Collection, this film documents a family holiday to Newquay in 1962.

The film opens with a group of men dressed in swimming trunks and swim hats. They stand in a line on the beach, and a number of spectators have gathered behind them. They then get a rope and race down to the sea front.

A long shot shows the large, crashing waves of the sea before a female surfer is seen. She then goes out and surfs before going under the water - cue the men rush into save her before carrying her out above their shoulders.

An extensive sequence shows many men surfing on the large waves. The film then cuts to show the filmmakers wife and children as they walk across the sandy beach. The film closes with the son and daughter sitting on a concrete pier where they are fish using smaller fishing rods.
