Film ID: YFA 1227 LOCOMOTIVES AND FREIGHT TRAINS AT WADSLEY BRIDGE 1981 Visitor TabsDescription This is a film made by Norman Wigley about trains on the Sheffield to Manchester electric line at Wadsley Bridge Station. The film was taken on 3rd March, 1981, three months before the line closed. Though filmed in rainy conditions, the film provides good footage of the overhead electrical equipment. The film begins with a two yellow-fronted electric traction engines passing the platform, pulling numerous tankers. The engines also have the white British Rail logo on them. This is followed by a double-engine train, this time with various open wagons and a guards van at the rear. A non-electric train passes with two passenger carriages, and the filmmaker focuses on the station sign reading "Wadsley Bridge." A two class 20 diesel engine passes through followed by some more electric engines. The film closes with a brief shot of an electric freight train from a distance.
