The film begins with men and a camera shooting a train passing them.

Title: On Loco Location

Title: Ravenglass and Eskdale 1975

From the back of train travelling through the countryside a man in a purple top looks through a camera lens. At Ravenglass Station a film crew, including Michael Gough, discuss the shoot before picking up and carrying away pieces of camera equipment.

A full train arrives at the station and passengers disembark. Engineers turn the train, the 'River Mite', on a turntable.  Another train leaves the station and a visitor looks over a number of engines on display beside a shed.  From the back wagon being used as a dolly a camera shoots the scene intercut with shots from the film itself.  More visitors arrive at the station and look around while engineers look over and oil various engines.

A train leaves the station with Michael Gough sitting on the footplate. From the train as it travels through the countryside views of the passengers and engine driver.

The film ends at Dale Garth Station where the train is turned and made ready for the journey back to Ravenglass. The platform is packed with visitors waiting to board the train.
