The accompanying commentary explains the village's history and architecture. The film also features local wood turner, Alan, at work. Title - E R Hardy Presents Sign - Heptonstall and Hepton Bridge. A car drives up a narrow street in the village, and various other streets are shown as well as many of the old stone houses, including the Cloth Hall, the Grammar school (now a museum). The film shows the damage to the Church of St Thomas ? Becket, the grave of David Hartley and the Methodist Church, the oldest Methodist chapel to be in continual use since its inauguration. Also featured is Alan, a wood turner, at his craft and some of his work, including a contraption for putting thread onto a bobbin.
