The film opens with shots of a chemistry laboratory full of students in white coats. They are carrying out a variety of tasks including: grinding substances with a mortar and pestle, using scales to measure powdered substances and putting glass bottles into a sterilisation machine. The lab is full of wooden work benches and they are covered with lots of apparatus: test tubes, scales and pots. One of the female students is spreading a thick paste over several pieces of paper and this is followed by a shot of her using a mortar and pestle. In the final shot a group of students in colourful 70s clothing stand outside the campus talking to an older man.
