Film ID: YFA 2941 BOLTON FACTORY c.1970 Visitor TabsDescription This film displays part of the Bolton factory and its workers as they sort orders and work on different pieces of suit manufacturing. The film begins with a man cutting out different pieces of cloth which have been marked off according to different cut out patterns. A few women sort out the different bundles of suit pieces into baskets which take these bundles to various parts of the factory. At a few different stages, other pieces needed for the completed suit are added to the appropriate basket. Many workers are present working at sewing machines as well as steam presses in the main section of the factory. Different from earlier factory films of the collection, there is more machinery present to perform different tasks which used to be done by hand or with different machines. Also noted, the entire film is made up of female employees except for the male cutter at the beginning of the film.
