A DCE Film Production: All Hands on Deck (For the Tall Ships Race)

The film begins with a narrator relating the history of the race. There are lines of sailing ships from around the world. Visitors queue to board some of the ships, such as the Georg Stub. There are also other pleasure boats and racing boats. Among those that the visitors look at are the Lord Trenchant and the Sedov. One ship flies the flag of the Cutty Shark. The narrator explains that the race started in 1956, and that ships come from all over. The ship owners clean the ships and do repairs to the rigging. There are many national flags. People walk along the River Tyne looking at the ships, among them 'Sir Winston Churchill', launched in 1966. One tall ship looks like 'The Fighting Temeraire' painted by Joseph Turner.
