Yorkshire Shorts: Seasons
Yorkshire Shorts: Seasons
Yorkshire Shorts was one of a number of projects supported by Screen Yorkshire, the UK Film Council Digital Film Archive Fund, and the Regional Investment Fund for England (RIFE).
The project gave YFA and filmmaker Ed Torsney the opportunity to create a series of short films for exhibition in independent cinemas across the region - introducing cinema-going audiences to regional film archive content. It was also a chance for YFA to take a more creative and artistic approach to interpreting and curating the film footage - sourcing a vast range of material from the collections to curate the final four films.
YFA took the theme of the Seasons for the films, producing a year-long programme for screenings in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The films were screened in cinemas, and in YFA's community film shows, as well as being exhibited as part of special events - recently all four short films were shown on the Reel Histories vintage cinema bus, in Northallerton, North Yorkshire for the opening of Contrast/brilliance* - the North Yorkshire Archive Film Festival. Over 75,000 people have seen the Seasons films, and now they’re available here for you to view. We hope you enjoy them as much as the cinema audiences did - do tell us what you think.
